CDE aims to collaborate with a variety of dancers, artists, musicians, writers, film-makers, photographers and other
creative folk to produce exciting, surprising and inspiring contemporary dance based events.

 

 

Ann-Karin Både

Ann-Karin Både is a singer-songwriter living and studying in London.

Ann-Karin grew up in Stavanger in Norway. She is a singer and vocalist in folk/contemporary band Dermot & Ann-Karin. Currently studying Ba/Bsc Music, Jazz Voice at Roehampton University.

Both classical and popular trained, over the past few years her main focus has been explorations into contemporary music.



Working as a singer-songwriter, exploring vocal improvisations and electro-acoustic composition has led her to work on a variety of collaborative projects including Remote Within and Lure an early work by Deimantė Prišmantaitė.

Dermot & Ann-Karin will be performing as part of the Outside of Time program.

Laurie Blundell

Laurie Blundell is a pianist and a composer.

He has studied at JGSMD and later received an hons degree from Trinity Collage of Music. Laurie has studied with Douglas Finch, Yonty Solomon and has had several lessons from the late John Bingham. He is currently studying with the well-respected Nelly Ben-Or.

Laurie has been performing since a child and has played at the QEH Southbank, NEC hall in Birmingham as well as a solo performance at the Institute Francais.



More recently Laurie was part of a prestigious master-class at the BBC concert hall in Bristol with Russian pianist Mikael Kazakevich and gave a solo recital in 2007 sponsored by the Glenilla Arts foundation.

2008/09 has seen Laurie perform several original works around London and in Buenos Aires where he gave four solo recitals.

Music has taken Laurie all around the world and he has performed and studied in Mexico, Brazil, Cuba and Africa.

Laurie has collaborated with Elaine Thomas to produce a musical score inspired by Shakespeare’s The Tempest for Outpost.

 

 

Alison Gibb

Alison Gibb is an artist and writer living and studying in London.

Since completing a BA (hons) in Fine Art at Goldsmiths’ College in 1998, Alison has worked predominately in the Arts as a project manager and creative consultant.

Creatively she has continued to produce a variety of text-based and performance artworks, facilitated art and poetry workshops for young people and is currently studying on a Creative Writing MA at Kingston University.



Alison is interested in exploring the concepts and relationships between gesture and language, narrative and storytelling, time and fictional spaces and ideas of high and low art.

Inspired by The Tempest and Shakespeare’s method of creating paired-new-words Alison has collaborated with Elaine Thomas to produce a narrative spoken text for Outpost.

Alison is the project manger for CDE and Outside of Time.

  

 

Tom Griffiths

Tom Griffiths is a freelance sound designer, composer and mix engineer working predominantly in independent film.

His work featured at 2010's London Short Film Festival creating the soundtrack for a comedy short called 'The Opera Singer'. He is currently working on two drama pieces and a political documentary.

Tom also works in his local community producing videos with the children of Grove Arts and Play Brixton Youth Centre.



As a composer Toms work includes music for independent film, jingles and company branding. He is also a BBC trained Location Sound Recordist.

As a mix engineer in music production, Tom’s work can now be heard on EMI and Domino records.

Tom collaborated with Amy Howard to create sounds on her film N O W H E R E.

 

 

 

Phil Mash

Phil Mash is an exciting new director and writer based in London.

He started his film career as a Director of Photography in 1998 and started directing his own projects in 2002.

He has directed Short Films, Music Videos, and Corporate Films. ‘Missing’, his latest short film has been in film festivals both here in the UK and in the US. His most recent Music Video “This Little Light” has received 85,000 hits on youtube and was up for voting on the NME website to become nominated for Best Music Video of 2009.



He has collaborated with the choreographer Amy Howard on two Contemporary Dance Films; ‘Tree’ and most recently ‘N O W H E R E'.

His awards include; 2004 at Greenwich short film festival, and the most recent in 2007 at Chicago film festival.

Julija Svetlova

Julija Svetlova is a London-based art photographer.

Julija grew up in Lithuania and studied at Saint Petersburg University before moving to London to study photographic imaging at London College of Communication.

Her award-winning photography has taken her to many parts of the world including Beijing, after winning an international competition sponsored by BMW.

While studying at the London College of Communication, she was selected by the Photographers' Gallery to run a series of Lomography Workshops for the Arts Council Paralympics Project in South and East London schools.



Following this Julija became an associate lecturer at the University of The Arts, London. She has recently been awarded the Sleipnir Travel Grant from the Nordic Council of Ministers.

Julija is responsible for the beautiful unique double exposed images used throughout Outside Of Time publicity and for a selection of images on our website.

Mike Toon

Mike Toon is a technical manager and lighting designer and dancer.

Mike started his career as a dancer and trained at the Legat School of Russian Ballet and The Urdang Academy. Working backstage as a technical theatre assistant in the West End to support his studies.

He has danced with the London City Ballet, Vienna Festival Ballet and Icelandic Ballet and has been appeared as a guest dancer within the UK. Internationally performing the soloist roles, The bluebird, Trepak and Petrushka.

After a spending time in Russia, The Ukraine and Georgia studying Folk dance, Mike returned to the UK to form Heart of the Jester productions.



Mike continued to establish himself as a freelance technical manager/lighting designer and has worked with the following companies and choreographers: Mark Baldwin, Ricochet Dance Company, Ben Craft, Gandini Juggling Project, Streets and Rivers. As well as rock bands Aerosmith and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Mike is a Senior Technical Tutor at Roehampton University.

When he grows up, Mike wants to be King Arthur or Henry XIII and have a very useless super power, like being able to run really slowly.
